Custom Products: HeartSmart Toolkit


Creative Promotions is a proud partner of the HeartSmart® NPO Toolkit. Cavill + Co, creators of a process called HeartSmart®, which enabled non profit organisations to form partnerships with companies, wanted to package the process into a Toolkit so that their consulting process could be shared with more non profit organisations. We have worked with Cavill + Co, to develop the most attractive and useable packaging and contents for the process and Toolkit.

Brief: To create a packaging device which would contain dividers, printed information, promotional items and other specific materials. Most importantly, the Toolkit needs to be functional for use over 10 months but also colourful and playful so that learning is fun. This Toolkit is a very important item which will provide upskill and train the NPO participants to prepare for, seek out and secure corporate partners, which will enable them to do the great community work that they do. Small run, no more than 100, two kits, A Starter kit and an Activity Kit. Full colour to accommodate partners’ logos. The client also preferred paper to plastic as many NPOs are environmentally conscious.  

Outcome: This was a challenge. We developed with our supply chain a cost effective solution which delivered an amazing result. Working within the brief guidelines we were able to create a really fantastic way of presenting our clients training collateral, while emphasizing the vision and culture behind the actual material. Two creative designs for the kits were created both being printed in CMYK and using a special ink to give the project that added vibrant depth. With the use of a matt cello glaze finish and by mounting the printed sheets onto a heavy duty box board the Toolkit idea became a reality. A case bound finish is nothing new but when done well, the old craft really does add value to a presentation project.  The toolkit design became a functional presentation piece that looks great, feels amazing and will survive a good workout from the less than gentle, yet eager to learn student.

  • The Starter Kit contains information about the corporate sector, models of engagement, information on branding and marketing and best practice guidelines for partnering.
  • The Acitivty Kit contains ten modules for May through to February which the NPO Toolkitter follows.
  • Each module describes in detail how to perform the step in the HeartSmart® process.
  • The kits contain real world examples as well as case studies.

The HeartSmart® NPO Toolkit is a 10-month modular based distance education training program. It has been designed and successfully road-tested in the real world, for use in the real world.

The HeartSmart® NPO Toolkit Turriculum commences in May 2008 and contains 10 modules over 10 months. The modules follow Cavill + Co's successful HeartSmart® process. 

The Toolkit has been designed to upskill NPO team members responsible for seeking out and securing partnerships with corporates and brands. The Toolkit is supported by telephone coaching and monthly Tutorials facilitated by Cavill + Co. The Tutorials will run in Melbourne and Sydney each month with Videoconference facilities (thanks to Toolkit partner Telstra) so that NPO's from all across Australia can join the Tutorial.

The HeartSmart® NPO Toolkit can train up more than one team member, as Cavill + Co encourages two people to join the journey.
